FalconFN
I've been out of the loop, how many councils did UKIP win?It depends on who you ask; most of the world says that have won no councils but have 157 seats (labour have 1890 or so and cons = 1250, libs = 400) but according to k-dub they have swept to power and are residing in number 10 and the White house. four-wheel-drive
I am supprised that so many people voted UKIP for the council elections I voted UKIP for the EU election but we did not have any council elections in my area but if there had been I would not have voted for them as I will not vote for any party except for the Government or EU elections. Why is this not a surprise ? Well if I heard right BBC reporter Nick Robinson said this morning on Radio 4 that the reason why UKIP didnt do to well in London than the rest of the country is because people in London are much smarter. Media is just full of ****.

Psyxologos
What is clear is that the party are at a real crossroads now. If they follow the right path, and really get serious about the future, they could, without doubt, re-write the political map at the next election. Being a 'protest' party is all well and good, but if they're in it for the long term they'll need to organise themselves a lot better in the future. Their manifesto and choice of candidates will be critical in convincing people they're no longer a party of protest, but a party for change. If they get it right the general election campaign will be very, very interesting. Very well put. I am very interested to see what they have to say about the NHS, the Economy and foreign policy. overandunder2012
Agreed. when you see it like that its not quite so impressive think kw is going to be waiting a while for the right wing revolution of course for them to get anywhere in the general 1st they have to think of some policy's. you never know boys you may get national service and hanging wonder if the poor will vote ukip so they can vote for their own benefits cuts Edited May 23, 2014 by overandunder2012
Psyxologos
That's 157 seats that used to belong to the other parties True, and as I said yesterday, it can only be a GOOD thing. But listening to some people gives the impression it was a landslide victory for ukip, something that clearly did not happen. ack-ack
What i found interesting was that Nige said alot of the national socialist vote had come from voters that had either never voted, or not voted for 25yrs. That is an interesting statistic.

No one is under the illusion that UKIP are land sliding it into government, but as i have said it is an amazing feat in such a short time to be in the position they now are,and a solid base to move forward on.,no one can deny the gains they have made have taken the political world by storm and the main parties are revising their political game as we type. FalconFN
That's 157 seats that used to belong to the other parties The % increase in UKIP support is the impressive bit not the total seats otherwise everyone would be saying how well Labour did. I think the 4 party politics comment seems to be the most likely longer term outcome but really its all conjecture until the GE.
chrisjh
did anyone catch the interviews with UKIP votes, man it was cringe worthy some women from Yorkshire and a bloke from Sunderland honestly when they package UKIP voters as "below average intelligence" you can see why

I would not go that far though to say that this is representative, people come from all walks in life and vote for a variety of parties.
