Bought this for my son Ryan off Mick (wabbitbosher) and so far Ryan has shot well with it.

The first thing I did was to remove a 3 inch stick extension and fit a recoil pad supplied by Mick. With the help of a belt sander that is now fitted :)

Next on the list is to remove a very dark stain that someone has applied to the stock and forend.

Here is the gun stripped :)

I'm hoping to begin stripping the finish tomorrow evening so will post pictures and keep you all updated.

Just a quick thank you to Mick for his service :good: and to James (demonwolf444) who has given me a step by step guide on refinishing :good:

So after raising the grain 5 times then sanding I've got a pretty smooth stock :) but unfortunately I think I'm going to have to go back to the nitromors :( I feel that there is still the dark finish in the chequering, so I'm going to attack it later with a tooth brush :)

Good decision on going back and scrubbing! I use a nail brush with a wooden handle stolen from the bathroom.. the bristles are good and stiff and get it out of the chequering well.

Old nitromors is my "secret ingredient" for getting all the crud out, the newer stuff does not cut the mustard in the same way. But then again the newer stuff doesnt feel like its giving you a chemical peel when you get it on your skin. Win some; lose some!

Keep us posted!

Looks a hundred times better than that black laquer that was on it before grain and color of the wood has some actual contrast now. How many coats of oil have you given it now? Best thing with an oil finish is you can go back and keep adding to it whenever you have the time, its very forgiving in that respect.

Not the easiest process to describe start from finish, but a very pleasing result, i hope you enjoyed the process!

best wishes,

James.
