DazzJo
Hi guys The shop where I get my shells from only stock Express cartridges, so I've decided to try the 7 1/2 28g clay cartridges, only bought two boxes just so I can try them tomorrow night on the clays, but has anybody tried these shells before? And are they any good? Dazz
Ttfjlc
If they're the English sporters some say they're quite punchy
berettadevon
I use the Power Blue cartridge from Express and i find them very good, they seem to be very hard hitting when im on the skeet or sporting layouts and i have been using them also against the crows and pigeons up on the farm. I for one will not be going back to the Eley Firsts!!!!!!!! If they're the English sporters some say they're quite punchy They were a little punchy but then i am using a Beretta Ultralight!!!!! Arr yes I have been advised to use the power blue cartridges from Express! Do they do a 32-34g in them mate? I normally use the pigeon specials and have no problems with them for crows and pigeons and I have even used them for pheasants and that did surprise me when the wings folded up haha!! For pigeons and crows i just use the the Express Power Blue loads, yes they are only a 28g 7.5 loading but they seem to do the job for me, well the 57 crows i had with them over the last weekend didnt like them lol!!!! I personally cant see point in using such i high load for them but that is my personal choice. as for the pheasants i too use the 32g pigeon special loads. berettadevon
Ah yes a friend of mine has one, nice guns but I would be careful of what I was using! I found the gun to be a little muzzle heavy for my liking so i added around 45g of lead to inside of stock which A: made the muzzle lighter and B: made the recoil a lot easier on the shoulder. safc1973
Yes - didnt think about it until i tried some other cartridges at the same time and then it was noticeable they were quite a bit louder and seemed to recoil more.

Not saying it affects all ultralights but my mate bought his brand new, sometimes he has had trouble getting the spent cartridge out the top barrel where the firing pin has really dented the primer hard. I also bought mine new and as of yet i havent had any problems with it, if it were me id take the gun to a gunsmith and have him check the top barrel firing pin sounds to me as if it might be sticking. Ttfjlc
Think your right although it's all part of the banter when we say "ooh look at the new beretta not working"

It's all in your mind. I would have thought you wouldn't notice that much difference between how these cartridges perform, in terms of kills. Maybe, but seemed to shoot lower than other cartridges - i mismounted once and could see the top of the rib but still hit the clay when i should have missed over the top. only used 50 so will give them another try. berettadevon
ive found that after i selected different loads and testing them all against a pattern plate the Express power blue loads gave the best spread out of my gun/choke combination.
