Dunkield
Why not try (assuming it isn't marking the disk rotor) swapping back pads for front ones? if the noise moves to the front you know what it is then.
WinchesterDave
Dunkield that's a cracking idea, and if the noise pursues it's the rotor? And the pads are held in by a single retaining pin which goes Through the caliper, pad 1 then the spring then pad 2 and out the other side. You have to physically bend the end of the clip once in place to keep it in that position Edited June 16, 2014 by WinchesterDave
WinchesterDave
I don't think I can upload pics from my phone unfortunately.
Harlyn
Had exactly the same problem with a set of deore brakes, tried disc cleaner and sanding the pads, and bleeding them was a complete bitch. Couldn't put up with the noise any longer so bought a pair of shimano brakes for about £70, job done
WinchesterDave
Think mine might possibly be deore actually hrmmm I'll check that one. Do you mean a Whole new Brake system or Just pads or Rotor etc.
Cannon
If it's a split pin/cotter pin set up the pads could be moving. Try greasing any metal on metal parts where the pads meets the caliper.
Harlyn
I didn't change the rotors, I ordered through merlin cycles and they came fully bled and took no more than 20min to replace front and rear

bear-uk
Thats a good way to warp the disc. How would that fix the problem bear? Its the recognised way to bed in brakes and it makes them better overall. Check out singletrack world.
