dead eye alan
Meet up with Tom and his son Paul at 11.30 sat in field that had been cut and bailed and wrapped. About 100 birds lifted when we drove in and disappeared in all directions, watched for a while and 2 flights started up Tom and I set up hide 20 yards to the right of a large oak, put out 15 dead birds on cradles 1 flapper and settled in. Paul set up on the apposite side of field with simerler set up we had wind from behind us so birds decoyed in front. Started well and we all had good shooting, then at 1.40 the farmer arrived and started to pick up the bales, this slowed things down but still getting a few birds decoying well. On his 3rd time in the field one of the fork's fell of the loader and we spent the next 45 minuets looking for the large nut that holds it on found 2 washers but no nut, so of he went to the yard to try to fix it. We commenced the shooting and after a short time was back in the grove. 3.20 the farmers back and carrys on collecting the bales and interrupted us again, took 7 trailer loads to clear the field 15 bails at a time. He finished at 5.00. it picked up again and we packed up at 6.15 Paul picked up 34 pigeons and 28 assorted blackes. Tom and I had 33 pigeons and 6 crow's. As we left the field we picked up 2 more birds that had dropped sum 300 yards from the hide,s, Tom of cause claimed both as his kill's. Not a bad day but it could have been so much better. JDog
That is a good day. You may have another shoot on there in a week or so.
motty
Sounds like a good day had by all. It's a shame when shooting gets interrupted like that, but there's not a lot you can do about it.
