HDAV
Anyone have any experience of none UK/EU residents applying for SGC? Just been chatting to a neighbour who is form the US and he was berating the crows attacking his recycling bags outside his house to the point he had taken to guarding them! We had a chat and he explained he sold his guns when he moved over, i mentioned shooting and explained how it works in the UK, I offered to take him clay shooting and he was made up. I have no idea how the application process works for none UK/EU citizens so thought i would ask the question. Found plenty of info for "visiting" but this guy is living and working here. http://content.met.police.uk/Site/firearmslicensingshotgunapplications ChecklistPlease use this checklist to ensure you have included everything we need to process your application efficiently. Please also see form 201 A -Notes for guidance about completing the form under ‘related publications’ on this page. Your personal details are completed. Convictions (if any) entered. GP details completed and signed. Must be a UK GP, non UK GP’s will not be accepted. If you do not have a GP you will have to register with one. Security section fully completed. Referees must be resident in Great Britain and have known you personally for at least 2 years, must not be a member of your family, a registered firearms dealer, a serving police officer or police employee. Referees must be of good character and references must be given freely and not on payment. Photographs - 4, must be passport style, size and quality. One signed by you. The requirement to have it endorsed as a current likeness has been abolished. Photographs for coterminous applications - 4 passport size, style and quality. As above no requirement for endorsement is necessary but one must be signed by you. Cheques or postal orders for correct fee included and made payable to The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime. If you are applying for a coterminous application, ensure you have completed both the shotgun and firearm sections on the form 201 with all details shown. Any incomplete applications will be returned and not processed until correctly completed. Please ensure you sign each page of the new form 201. Seems the only issue would be a UK resident referee that has known him for 2 years that isn't a member of his family. shootgun
I can't see any difference between UK/EU citizens and him in this instance, as long as he lives and works here is a UK resident
Imperfection
Providing he is a resident here its no problem.
casts_by_fly
I did it as an american when i moved here. No difference as citizenship isn't a consideration, just residency. As noted, a reference of 2 years is the hard bit. Fortunately i knew people from work. Rick

casts_by_fly
They wouldn't get anything from local police in the US. The US police wouldn't give that up without a warrant. If they do any chevks otherwise, you wouldn't know about it. Rick
Saffa
As a South African with residency in the UK, and a SGC, it works exactly the same as normal. Must be a resident for 2+ years, registered with UK doctor and have a British referee who has known you for 2+ years. Got my SGC in 4 weeks from posting, no problems. casts_by_fly
You don't have to be a resident for 2+ years. There is no minimum time. Rick
