Albert 888
Im just trying it out at the moment on my disco 300tdi and it doing very good so far. Im on 20l diesel to 60l new veg oil at 74p a l. So my thoughts are if the p38 runs as good, I could travel in luxury again without the running cost of the v8 I had doing 12mpg again in a diesel p38. secret-squirrel
Oooh just seen this thread how tempting. I have a 200tdi disco . Guessing this would run o.k on a mix of esso derv and veg oil. My mate runs a chippy . Yes just told me he cooks with " friars pride rapeseed oil" http://friarspride.com/shop/liquid-oil/liquid-rapeseed-oil/friars-pride-rapeseed-oil-inc-1-50-deposit.html If I can get this at the right price per litre would this be o.k ?? Thanks Edited June 25, 2014 by secret-squirrel
Albert 888
The stuff im using is new, dont know much about the used stuff appart from you have to filter it quite a bit and remove the water. The mix im running at the moment may need more diesel as its a bit sluggish, but runs ok. Some say that the seals in the pump go but im only going througu the testing stage. secret-squirrel
Used and filtering is way to much hastle for me . I meant new stuff .
figgy
New stuff should be fine, if the seals go just change them. The sluggishness is probs your diesel filter blocked, veg oil cleans the system and all the gunk goes to the filters, keep changing them and it should be flying along. It gets better as the system gets cleaner. Figgy
secret-squirrel
Spot on Albert . Went to Costco yesterday and picked up 80 litre of the stuff . It does have the" dreaded " e900 anti foaming agent in . But oh well . I'll be sticking 20ltrs oil to the rest of a brimmed tank of bio diesel . So shouldn't think i will have to many issues . If any one sees a green disco that' stinks like a mobile chip shop in Nottingham area give me a beep hahahaha cheers lads

goober
Be carefully with high pressure fuel systems as oil is thicker and only use new oil as used oil will leave deposits. Seals are softened with biodiesel because it is a solvent(good biodiesel has been washed and filtered to remove methanol which is the main reason for softening seal). Biodiesel cleans the system because of the solvent effect and also it absorbs all moisture in your tank into the fuel. Used oil is around 2-3ffa new oil is under .5 FFA.free fatty acids leave the deposits after combustion, but by blending with derv will help this and also reduce viscosity. Start with maybe 20 percent oil in derv and gradually work up. We used to run on 80 percent biodiesel with derv in our vehicles with no damaged seals for 10 years but fuel must be good quality. Hope this helps.
