a couple of night vision questions

afternoon folks, i have a couple of questions regarding diy night vision,

i last year made my own loosly following evos instructions and it worked perfectly (cant thank evo enough for his ideas and help) i recently changed my scope from one hawke to another hawke and apart from not being able to get a correctly szed silicone sleeve to find a decent fit which i can overcome im finding the kpc s190sw bullet camera needs to be almost an inch further away than it used to be.

apart from my not wanting to have a long sleeve as it will get in the way of my shouldering the gun i cant find one anyway so can i change the lens i fitted (think it was a 16mm) to another one that will mean the camera can be closer

second questions i am planning a nv spotter and am on the look out for a camera, i would prefer a smaller board cam rather than the bullet cam as it will fit in the smaller case i want to use.. any sugegstions? smaller and cheaper the better

  • 4 weeks later...

cameras not the problem as my nv is already built using the kpc-s190 bullet cam, the issue i had was as mentioned above was on changing the scope recently (one hawke to another hawke) the silicone sleeve wouldnt fit so i bought a slightly smaller one and while swapping over found the camera needed to be an inch further away than before which apart from needing another sleeve as i cut the new one to the same size as the old one before checking (bloody idiot!) ive found that that extra inch makes shouldering the gun uncomfortable so i wondered if changing the lens will help with the distance the cam needs to be from the eyepiece on the scope

Changing the lens will make no difference. A 16mm lens gives you I bigger screen picture, the 12mm gives a rounded one. They both need setting to where your eye relief would normally be.

Easy way is add a slip on stock pad for night and take it off for normal use

As above. Before I had an extending stock adjuster fitted to my rifle, I used to put a slip on rubber stock sleeve with a 1" shaped piece of wood inside the rubber. It worked well.
