stevethevanman
Here are some pics of the meat of 2 hares I shot, pictures 1. is of the lungs of one of the hares, a lump each side clearly seen on the lungs, they were slightly smaller than a M&M, are there any ideas on what it is. 1.(lungs) 2.(left leg)This picture is off a diffrent hare, clearly showing a large lump of some kind which was made up of lots of smaller bumps, and was found and was found under left front leg or what would be our armpit. 3.(right leg)this lump was found on the right leg. Pictures 2. and 3. are from the same hare and picture 1. is from a diffrent hare, I would like to know what this is and if it is safe to eat the meat. Here are the hares. They were shot yesterday. kip270
Could be tumors, but not too sure.
scolopax
Quite nasty really, I am sure they are cysts formed by clusters of Tapeworm eggs. The idea is the hare is an intermediary host and the real target of the parasite is Mr. Foxy, who will eat the infected part of the hare and then collect the Tapeworms. The good news is though that cooking will kill off the eggs so tuck in

The meat is still edible just remove the cysts carefully without breaking them and make sure the meat is well cooked.
