darren m
any one ever thought of training a border collie as a gun dog . i was playing with both my lab and collie the other day , and realised that the collie bitch was so much more intensive and focused on me at retrieving etc . i dont mean that jack ( lab ) is,nt , just the collie loves fetching stuff . anyone

Paul in North Lincs.
Collies tend to be a tad mroe nervous though.......and not very good around loud bangs..................they cetainly have the brains though! l
Blackbart
In my opinion collies should be hunted either with a pack of hounds or a lamp n rifle..All the farms i go to their collies seem to have escaped from a mental asylum.chasing cars, dogs, people biting cars, dogs, people. One used to bite your tyres when you drove in to the farmyard. He doesnt do that anymore after trying to bite the front of the tyre as we were driving towards him.The farmer said he knew that he would go that way one day cos he used to attack every car that came there. So to recap NO i wouldnt dream of using a collie for picking up/shooting,unless it was helping me set my sights.
