kyska
All looked good today, rape harvested, lots of birds, always done well, but today, myself and Woodford on here just couldn't get things to work. Took a drive around 300 acre of stubble and found a decent site, good flight of birds. Would they decoy? Not a chance, things looked great to start with, two birds down literally as we stepped into the hide, then every bird making a perfect approach, jinked. We checked everything, moved deeks, checked the hide, magnet in, and back out. Birds were everywhere, **** day. I can only imagine the heat had a say in the matter, we're pretty experienced shooters, we just couldn't fix it today. Topped up my Greek suntan mind...... JDog
A great pity for you today. Sometimes it is like that. Other days when little is expected produce a bonus bag.

Thanks, it was very frustrating, we had high expectations, plenty more time. Waiting for our first attempt of beans to get harvested..... As you know it can be some time after beans are harvested before pigeons get on them in some numbers. Bean stubble is nowhere near as instantaneous as rape or barley stubble.
