mick miller
As I'm considering starting reloading for my 243 I'm wondering has anyone used these Ramshot powders from Henry Krank? The chap said there would be no problem getting hold of these now or in the future as they were of European manufacture, unlike some of the other powders on offer. I just want to make sure this is good advice and not a case of trying to sell a novice something which is more profitable for them. It sounds like good advice, but I'm long in the tooth enough to be naturally sceptical. Anyone using it?

mick miller
Okay, sounds good then. I was going to use it with either 75gn or 100gn, looks like the TAC will be the one for me. mick miller
They sent me a data sheet Fister but if I'm honest, it's still a bit of a dark art to me at the moment. We all have to start somewhere though! I was thinking of the Lee Breech Loader kit and a set of deluxe rifle dies to begin with, a tumbler to clean the cases. Not sure what else I need but the folks at Kranks seem quite helpful.
Blunderbust
I use the Hunter with 70 gr Sierra BK and this shoots very well, however I had a bit of a problem with the data in that I got quite bad pressure signs at 49gr and the ML on the paper was 51. I eventually got it sweet using 46 gr and can nearly always get it to group at the 1/2" mark, in a lot of cases 1/3". I am also using Hornady 100gr BTSP and 43 gr RS Hunter and I am getting 1" or less. I am sure with a bit of tweaking I might improve on this . mick miller
Oh, thanks for the information, is it safe to load under the recommended minimum though? I thought this leads to pressure spikes? Edited July 29, 2014 by mick miller
Blunderbust
Oh, thanks for the information, is it safe to load under the recommended minimum though? I thought this leads to pressure spikes? Mick, my post with the ML should read Max Load. I eventually went through all my manuals and worked a load to suit. If my memory serves me the recommended minimum load from RS was the 46gr. Blunderbust
Ive just changed to hunter, for my .243 with 75g vmax, im hoping for good results with it. Getting used to handling it is the thing as it is the finest powder I have ever used. That being said my loads are bang on and I am about to start testing it in an other calibre to see how I get on with it.
mick miller
Hmm, well, it might be Viht or Hodgdon now. I have only those available 'locally' (that's 45mins one way and an hour the other), trying to save on £30 postage (probably do that in diesel )...
