Wildfowler325
Hi there, 2 year ago i oil finished my Browning 325 and was happy with it. Now i would like to get the stock a little darker as it is quite light. What would be the best way to do this as the stock has been grained sealed
welshwarrior
The best way is to strip dye the refinish it
ditchman
start again......you are not going to get the right colour in one application....you have to build up the colour over several days...believe me its not a slap it on and polish it off job...if you are using oil it needs the heat from the friction of the ball of your hand...its hard work to get it done nicely.... I am well aware if this. When i did it the first time i spent 10 days building up the oil finish!

Wildfowler325
But my question is how can i darken the stock. After i finished the oil finish i applied grain sealer to seal the wood.
ditchman
the only way is to use a dark sealer not clear.............anything you put on the sealer will wear off very quickly......im no expert but ive done enough of my stocks...have never used a sealer....always just the oil finish and keep on feeding it.... You need to sand back through it and stain the wood ..... Then refinish
Duckman91
I would soak the wood work in white spirit to take it to bear wood then die it as malkiserow says stain it a darker colour the start again with the oil.
