djgeoff
could anyone please confirm the procedure with the firearms dept etc for storing my sons shotty until his license renewal comes through? he come sunder Warwickshire and myself under west mid staffs. according to my son he has been told that he/we have to write in on my cert the details of the gun and the word 'storage' then send them a letter confirming this ( so i presume i send to Warwickshire) or do i need to send to west mid as well? then when his cert comes through just cross it off on my cert and again inform them by letter that is now back at its original location and with original cert holder. is this correct? because the paper work he has given me is the standard for sale /transfer. regards geoff
Gordon R
I am at a loss as to why your son needs to store them elsewhere. They should give him his cert or a temporary one. However, if you go down that route - they are entered on your cert. He then notifies his licensing authority that you have them. You have to notify your own that you have acquired them. When you return them - both of you inform your respective authorities what has happened. You do not cross them off your own certificate. Most forces will accept e-mails. HDAV
It is a "transfer", albeit a temp one, beter he inform his area to issue a section 7 temp permit while they process renewal and get his shooting org on the case....

robbiep
If he put in his paperwork on time, then he can pretty much demand a Section 7 permit, as it is their fault. If they refuse to issue, then he is entitled to lodge the guns with an RFD, and recover the costs from the police. On the other hand, if he was late with the paperwork, then as said above - he's basically transferring the guns to you, and you both need to inform the licencing authorities.
