Guest stevo
hi all , just wondering what complete oil finishing kit to buy .? I want to strip my 682 and oil finish it but have no idea what to get , I just want one that has everything I need in one kit , don't care how much it costs I just want a real good one , any ideas ?? also with regards to grain sealer , do I have to use it , I know it saves time but if I remember right I used it years ago on a stock , but after a yr or so it looked like the finish was wearing off , it was almost as if the oil finish was a coating on the sealer NOT in the wood so-to-speak . any help much appreciated stevo

jimbo9t9
Was very impressed with the kit and was easy to use and the instructions were easy to follow, the wood has come up quite light so maybe should of stained it before oiling. But overall was impressed.

johnbaz
Hi I use Welsh Wills kit, it's Tung oil based but blended with other oils too and gives a beautiful satin sheen rather than a glass like glossy finish.. Everything needed is included down to grain filler, Alkanet root oil, water based walnut stain, gloves, wipes, wire wool, Oh and the oil of course!! Woodfield gcp Some stocks done with Wills kit... Before (These had been done with Tru oil that didn't dry, was very tacky to the touch..) After.. Airsporter mk2 Before.. After.. The bottom of these two was redone using the kit too! Didn't take a before pic Good luck with the refurb John
jimbo9t9
That looks good and you can't argue about the price.
