Medic1281
Anyone used the above gun? I'm after some honest opinions. I've been thinking about getting a 20b for some time now for walking the fields, rough shooting. I went to my local RFD today and they had one of these in stock. I handled it and felt it came up very nicely, the fit seemed ideal and the light weight was good. My only concern was that the forend rattled as if it was slightly loose. They said that they would see what they could do with regards to the fore end and will call me on Monday. So, has anyone any experience of them, are they any good, what are the things to watch out for? (null)
telf
i am currently in the same position as you,in as much as i am thinking about a 20 bore, after much research and phone calls,i wittled it down to lanber, lincoln and franchi, but then had a look at yildiz spm2e,but was pointed in the direction of franchi or bettinsoli, with franchi being the one that seemed to be recommended the most, sorry i cant help out on that particular gun Edited August 14, 2014 by telf
Medic1281
Thanks for that. I quite like the yildiz that I looked at today, it's not a premium gun but it feels ok and seems to fit nicely. I'm just a little concerned by the loose forend, I don't know if this is an easy fix or common problem?
telf
cant find anything on the net about loose forend problems,a few bits on the trigger, but all in all seems ok,do you mind me asking what price your paying for it
Medic1281
Not negotiated yet, but it's advertised at £500, it looks in mint condition (apart from loose forend!).
Wildfowler12
I bought a Yildiz 20g of Albert 888 earlier in the year, I have to say I've been very impressed with it so far. I wanted a lightweight gun specifically for rough days on my syndicate, as I own 3 other semi-pistol grip stocked guns, the Yildiz was more appealing than some of the others I looked at. Having never owned a sbs before I was worried I wouldn't get on with it. The gun comes up very quick and handles well, but I think the lightweight (only 5.3lbs) can make crossers a bit of a problem, it doesn't seem to swing as well as my other guns - although they are some 3lb heavier! Having said that it's accounted for dozens of pigeon so far. As it's primary use is for rough days - 6 hours of walking miles on end, for the odd chance of a close range bird flushed in front of the gun, I think it will fit the bill perfect I'm sure it was named in the 'best guns under £750' award this year too? That's got to count for something? I say buy one, I'm sure you won't regret it.
Medic1281
That all sounds very positive, just hope they will tighten the forend for me. Then I'll start haggling!!
figgy
I have a 28bore Yildiz over and under and its a great little gun. Three lads I know have the 12 bore Elegants for game and cannot fault them. Very good gun for the money, use the Mobil choke from Beretta and the same dimensions, it's the reason I bought mine it fits the same as my Beretta. Never heard of a forend problem. Only one chap having some cracks appear in the action of his. Sure a search on here will bring up everything Yildiz. Figgy
Medic1281
Thinking I might have to make a bit of room in the cabinet!!
blasterjudd
This may sound a bit of a bodge but I once saw a guy with a Beretta 20 o/u the gun had a loose for end and to resolve it a gun shop internally lined the base of it with a very small strip of leather glued on and it stopped the forend from being loose ! The gun had hardly been used so rest assured the best of guns have issues with tolerance from coming out the factory doors! I would just get the shop to confirm it's ok and warrant the forend Edited August 15, 2014 by blasterjudd
Medic1281
I'm waiting for a call back on Monday about it. Quite hoping that they can sort something with both the forend and price as I'm thinking it could be a nice little gun for me.
