barbel fishing

For those coarse anglers out there the Severn has really picked up this week and I have had some nice fish - photos and write up of two sessions on my blog in signature if you are interested.

ive not fished now for about 6 years or maybe more, I've fished at Bewdley a few times and upstream ftom Ironbridge purely for Barbel, lovely stretch of water. I spent more time though fetching a few from the Dove around Tutbury and Hatton my pb where 2 from the same peg 10.5 and 11.25 but im afraid in my opinion its gone the same way as the Carp brigade in our area anyway.

I keep moving my fishing tackle around and keep getting the urge to either sell or use it, I just can't make my mind up.

I agree it is increasingly becoming similar to carp fishing (which I do not do) but there is something special about being out on a beautiful stretch of river.

Nothing nicer than spending a few hours by the river, been doing a bit of barbeling myself on the Gt ouse recently with not much sucess though.

Caught a lovely 6lb barbel on 2red and 1white maggot whilst fishing for bream on the ouse at York. First I've ever caught and well worth the respect the get. Beautiful gentle biting powerful fish.
