mpk
Had mine for 4 years, been great off road so far, don't look after it at all and it's still going (much better engine than the 3.0l) typical 4x4 mpg of around 23 mpg on a normal day but they will run on veg oil ! I don't do any lamping so can't answer that one. I wouldn't be without mine ! Edited August 31, 2014 by mpk
BrowningDJC
The 3.1 engines are very good, very reliable. MPG is going to be mid 20's i should think but troopers are a good vehicle all round, good off road and on. Check for rot on the back end of the vehicle on areas such as the back chassis and boot floor, as its an older vehicle this is were they tend to corrode. ferguson_tom
Great trucks, my dad had one for years and never caused him any trouble at all. Off road it did well towing trailers on and off very wet rally fields more times than i care to remember. He only sold it as the cambelt needing doing and is a big job as complete front end off, he was quoted £800 from a friendly mechanic. By this time as well it was starting to show signs of ages like slight rusting over rear arches and need couple of patches on the bottom of the rear chassis. However my dad was very tempted to get it all done and keep using it. He bought it off a good friend who had it from new so we knew it had been well serviced etc and was a good example to start off with. JimLondon
I've got. 3.0l swb on a 02 reg and find it to be a great all round shooting truck it's the 2 seater so plenty of boot space I love it. Just do the normal checks and pay particular attention to the cross members on the chassis. Oh and you need to ask about any recalls,if the seller doesn't know, take the vin number and ring a Isuzu main dealer and they should be able to tell you if it needs recall work or if any has been carried out.
