NickS
For all its faults, I would sooner have it than not. A dear friend (American) has suffered for years since she was sick as a child and covered by her parents' medical insurance but cannot now get cover for herself for pre-existing conditions except at a ridiculous cost. If your children fall ill, or will require very long-term care, without an NHS they could end up in a similar situation. When you consider the number of GP consultations, hospital appointments, home care visits etc. that happen every day, day after day, it is little wonder that there are some that go wrong and, naturally, it is these that make headlines. Nobody pretends it is perfect and could not be more efficient but it is still something that this country can be proud of. Nick

I agree - i'd rather have it than not, but I would like it to work as it should. Other countries can do it, why not us? By the way - with ObamaCare - this has now changed. They cannot take pre-existing conditions into account in the US. About time too.
kent
Just remember the NHS isn't free if you pay taxes (far from it) If you don't and never have then its free- Solution is obvious when we have some who not only have never contributed but their parents never did either!
