I have recently been given some very good maps of the farms I shoot. stating basically everything you need to know, what crops, footpaths, roads, it's a very nice lay out. iv got 2 more premisions and i have printed off a satalite map from google earth but it's pretty useless as in it's very blurry. is there a decent website etc to get some decent maps of farm layouts, the ones I have a black and what's and show the outline of the headlands.

If you want a good paper copy then can photocopy Ordnance Survey maps. Need the Explorer ones as these include field margins as well as important features such as public footpaths. When I have a new permission I take an photocopy of the farm from an OS map and get the farmer to mark the farm boundaries and clearly identify boundaries eg woodland strips on a boundary...who owns the strip. Not always obvious and I have previously made the wrong assumption in the past.

I WISH!!

In Saskatchewan, when goose hunting, you can get a map which shows each field, who owns it and where he lives. So you find the geese, drive to see him, get permission and shoot the next day.

EASY!!

I wish the UK was that simple.....

Most farms have detailed maps, but you already have to have your feet well and truly under the table to get copies!!

Goggle Earth maps work well too.
