Lightning BSA
Hello, ive got a Bsa Lightning .22, and would like to know which ammo is best to get as i have been informed that the ammo used could effect the accurancy of the shot, thanks for the info Lightning BSA
pin
This comes up so many times, have a look back over the last page or two it came up just the other day. The summary is have a go with as many types as you can, and see what works for you. Every rifle is different and even two of the same rifles might prefer different pellets. Have a look at http://www.pellpax.co.uk/acatalog/Pellpax_SAmple_Packs.html When trying out ammo, bench rest the rifle and fire against a good backstop with a large target, see how consistent 5 shots are aimed at the same mark (a lot won't hit the mark but see how far they deviate from where they impact). When you find a few that are consistent then re-zero for those and have a go with a few more, then test the other couple of brands you found were good. Best of luck! pin
Not at all, hope my post didn't come across as being short! You get these things, recurring topics that happen all the time. The pellpax thing is a great idea, no cheaper way to try a load of different ones. Best of luck testing it out!
naddan28
My lightning loves BSA Elites, good pellets. After trying domes, flats and pointed I can safely say just stick with the tried and tested dome pellets, cant go wrong. Pointed tumble in mid flight and risk over penetration. Flats- well have the areodynamic properties of a 18 wheel artic truck.

pin
Domed are kings, forget pointed they are ****e, ignore any of these "gimmick" part plastic/part steel pellets too, and pellet lube. Find a good domed or semi-domed pellet and practice with it. Hunting success is so much more to do with accuracy than worrying about pellets. Hit the thing in the right place and you'll drop it with any pellet. Hit the thing in the same place every time with a pellet, you're untouchable

Cyber
ive allways gone for .22 AA.FIELD.16.2 yep, me too. they seem to be the least 'barrell fussy' pellets. I use them in .177 in my daystate and they are spot on!

Cyber
yep, also used the logun penetrators in the lightning, they kick like a mule and got some serious knockdown power!! though they were a bit pricey though!! I am wanting to apply for my fac soon and up my air rifle to around 20-30 ft/lbs. I will then use the loguns!
