Albert 888
Having loads of trouble with the vw T25 van at the moment. It was a 1.9dg petrol on carbs, fuel tank rotted so I bought a new one for it. Then had catastrophic engine failure, sourced a good 2.1 dj (injection)engine and all bits and bobs. Fit the engine and the van runs like a dream and goes like stink. Now when I give it some round a roundabout or a corner it conks out,due to lack of fuel to engine. It's getting worse. What is the difference between a injection tank and a carb tank. I was thinking of fitting a swirl pot but the van is to low. Next thought was getting some kind of 90 degree self taping and sealing connector so the fuel is straight out of the tank.changed filters and pumps good. And advice would be great. figgy
Sounds like its a baffle problem in the tank, starving the pump of fuel when cornering all the fuel is going to one side of the tank. Does it happen if over half full? Figgy
Albert 888
Still does it with a full tank.
HAYBURN
Does this have just one fuel line from tank to fuel pump....or does it have two fuel lines(flow and a return)
Albert 888
It's a flow and return tank and the fuel is returning back to the tank
HAYBURN
is there any chance they are connected the wrong way round..so you are trying to lift fuel from the return pipe.. try running it from a can of fuel.then if it runs fine when cornering..you are going to have to inspect the tank.. Albert 888
The fuel out pipe is on the bottom of the tank and the fuel return pipe is on top,so I think it's the right way round. Will eventually remove the tank and have a look to see inside and whats what.
Paddy Galore!
I have absolutely no idea what it could be, but as a fellow veedubber I feel your pain.
Albert 888
My last outing in it conked out twice due to the fueling and the third time the accelerator cable snapped at a roundabout, only did a 15 mile round trip. Thanks for sharing the pain.
88b
A fuel injection tank should have a swirl chamber to stop the fuel moving away from the pick up pipe. If it does it with the tank full it shouldn't be fuel starvation
