hi folks, i know a fair few on here use E700 cameras, i was wondering if anyones had any grief with them?

i bought a couple from sure24, the one for my rifles NV arrived a week ago, as usual i connected it to my cctv sustem to make sure it worked before i cut the plugs off.. it did so after running for w hile i disconnected and cut the plugs off then soldered on new ones, i connected the newly pluged camera into my NV setup and it ran for a while and died, i recharged the battery incase it was that but nothing... dead as a dodo

my setups ok, in fact its so simple there is nothing to go wrong on it, the soldering on the connectors is ok... bloody thing!

i emailed sure and emailed again today as id had no reply. they said they have never had a bad one before and as ive cut the plugs of its gota go back to the manufacurder for them to check it... fair enough i supose but sounds like a nice long delay before i get up and running

anyway me reason for posting isnt to have a moan (but im glad i did) its to ask if anyones got any ideas if i can sort this without sending it back to save time... its a sealed unit so im guessing not but i had to ask

There have been some recent issues with them. I'm surprised they say there have not been.

If you are a NVFUK member go there and read a thread about it.

EDIT: Google this to find it:

Purchase a new E700 within the last few months, hardly used it as I was waiting for a new scope arriving

Hi kiffy, one of mine has gone back and been sent to factory for tests, I too cut the cable but that tested ok.The unit just wouldnt fire up,no sign of damage on the board . Sure24.co.uk have been great, you need to talk to Jamie.I will poss get an answer off them by end of week. They said regarding cutting of cables that obviously it invalidates the warranty, but he said decision will be with the manufacture,if they find the cutting cable did not contribute to tbe fault.

I can't understand why they denied any other failures as there are 3 i know of and seems to effect E700 that where purchased around May July 2014.As Dave-G says look on the nv forum, there is a post on there regarding this.I would speak with Jamie rather than anyone else at sure24. I did buy another off them last week from a new batch that came in last Monday and it performed brilliantly (no cables cut as it was used on a spotter).Jamie stated that they are all tested now before leaving sure24.I got an email from him today and he said that they are going to start putting the E700 through their own tests by doing some nv builds using different batteries and enclosures ect.

Just asking, I always tend to make sure my power supplies are fused, reverse polarity protected and surge protected before hitting any electronic components. A lot of DIY builders, even the self-proclaimed 'experts' seem to simply connect a power supply straight to components without any form of conditioning in between. That might be okay for a lamp, but with more sensitive circuits its asking for problems in my humble opinion.

I must add, I'm no electronics expert, fortunately I have an uncle who is :)
