islandgun
I'm keen to try the nail and dowel method as seen on u tube for a few carts ( Im not sure how to post link but its shotshell reloading without a press) My question is has anyone tried using PVA or silicone glues instead of crimp or RTO, and did it work if so did they find a drop or increase in pressure, the recipe is for 12g subsonics by a famous PW member and he recommends an 8 point crimp, cheers IG

Continental Shooter
The only thing I am concerned about is that with nitro powder, if you resize the shell and, like this fella did, and use the same recipe....chances are you are on for fireworks! The pressure is going through the roof (especially if you use A1, AS, GM3, etc) and probably seriously harming your gun and soon yourself! American powders are more stable and resistant to adjustments, ok, but that video should have never been published or allowed to a wider public without a disclaimer! The fact someone got away with it for some time, doesn't make them safe!

Thanks for that, I have loaded and patterned a few using cookoffs subsonic recipe for AS ie 17grain and 32g and they seemed to work fine, I used a overshot card and a dab of silicone. A positive is that the used cartridge is as good as new without any crimping damage, I wanted to try this method out of curiosity, ( you know what curiosity did to the cat) and would appreciate any thoughts. Underdog
I always just use clear nail varnish. U.
islandgun
I see you put it around the edge only, and assume the varnish doesn't seep through to shot, have you noticed any difference in pressure or performance, the case on the right looks very much bigger is it for an 8 bore, thanks for posting

The case on the right is closer to the camera lens. U.
