jmcc1889
Hi all Looking a little advice, I have a CZ 22 bolt action rifle and am looking to pair it up with a good scope. I know you get what you pay for, not looking to spend crazy money but just looking your views recommendations for make magnification model and mounts etc . I will be using it for hunting purposes. Thanks in advance John
Thunderbird
I have had a Bushnell (Trophy?) 3-9x40 mil-dot scope on my 22LR for a long time now and I think it's the right balance between value and quality. They can be got for about £90 I think. Very good, clear steady scope and the range of mag is very handy for changing between walk-around shooting to prone, 100 yard stuff. jmcc1889
Thanks for the reply Thunderbird, I had looked at the Bushnell range along with the Nikko stirlings, To be honest I don't have much experience re rifle shooting. I bought the rifle a couple of years ago which came with a basic Tasco? scope. Accuracy was never great it took a lot of time to zero it but it was never consistent, looking to get it out again but have been told to upgrade the scope which could help with things,
chris31
I've always been a big fan of Nikko sterling's, would recommend the game king series and the gold crown models, I've a 3-9 x 40 gold crown on my .22lr and a game king 2.5-10 x 44 illuminated reticule on my .22 hornet and a 2.5-10 x 50 gold crown on my .308 , never an issue with them and can't fault them for the price. jmcc1889
Thanks guys for the replies.I will have a look at both your recommendations. What about mounts any particular make I should look at or will the existing set on my tasco do okay? I think some of the Nikko sterling scopes come with mounts. Thunderbird
I'm not sure, mine came with mounts with no make on. The shop will no doubt advise you.
chris31
The nikko scopes that come with mounts are the mountmaster range, these are the budget range and seem fine too, my lad has one. I don't rate the mounts that they come with tho!
Les*1066
Have a look at the ZOS scopes, too. They have reasonable optics and are well made. They normally come with mounts, although the thumbwheel-adjustable ones are hopeless. The Nikko Stirling Mountmaster range are very good value. Hawke scopes tend to be better - imo - than Nikko, and their Airmax range are excellent.
peek-at
+1 for Nikko Stirling Gameking. I have them on my .22 rimmy & air rifle. The glass is nice and clear, mildot scope useful, good price for the quality! Have a look at JSR............CLICK

evo
Hawke Panorama EV AO 3x9x50,, excellent glass for the money around £100-120 certainly more than enough glass for a .22 and brilliant in low light conditions atb Evo
iain
I've got a leoupold m1 Chinese copy on mine. I'm quite impressed for £40 off amazon. It holds zero , 30 mm tube side focus. ( it works as well ) it's ok for rimfire ranges. Been toying with the idea of getting another one and trying it on the .
