dogz25
Used him to do water pump on Thursday. On used it once and now my head gaskets gone. Asked him for a price for new gasket and he's getting back to me. Want to see what sort of price it will be.
michufc
It really depends on if the head itself is damaged and needs skimming and pressure testing which both are adviser able but some people are tight and just get the min done. I would let this chap who is mobile have a look if someone has vouched for him he will be able to say more once he has looked at it

dogz25
Quoted £500 for head gasket and skim. Does that sound about right.
richie223
Bit steep mate.skim and pressure test is about 80 quid where I am.head set around 30/40 quid
michufc
Thing is you don't get much these days for £500 so if you think it's steap get a couple more quotes and compair
WildCamper1982
I wouldn't say it was mega steep, after all you have labour cost to complete the job, head set kit, head skimmed, new head bolts, new cambelt, oil and filter change and coolant change, that's if your going to do it properly. You will always get the folk who want to do it on the cheap and bodge it and then wonder why it it broke down a week later!
Luckyshot
Quoted £500 for head gasket and skim. Does that sound about right. £500 is not a bad quote, when I did my Peugeot partner head gasket last year it cost me £230 in parts alone Head skimmed Crack tested Head gasket Top end gasket set Head bolts Water pump Timing belt Oil change The price soon mounts up all depending on what you get done for your money. 69chris
as above, doesnt sound too expensive tbh, but its a pretty easy diy job (labour wise) so if your happy to twirl a spanner then you could prob do the job for 200/250 inc parts and skim if needed
dogz25
Think price was basically for head gasket skim , pressure test and labour this is what mechanic message me. Okay I can get all the parts for 200. A skim and pressure test is 80 but if I have to remove valves to skim it will be extra. Labour will be 250. Looking at near 500 fixed if all goes well and I don't find other faulty parts involved with the head gasket.
richie223
I still think it's a bit expensive. For such an easy job.its a very basic engine after all.just my opinion
la bala
You would do it a lot lot cheaper if you did it yourself.
