kippylawkid
Been watching a stubble field that I shot 40 on a month ago. It's been building up nicely and I'm going to shoot it tomorrow with a pal as it looks like the best day wind/rain wise. Trying not to count my pigeons, but I'm quite hopeful of a shot or 2! Will report the day on PW.

stuy
Good luck, it is difficult to make a decent bag this time of year, but with the right weather conditions is possible!
kippylawkid
Well, arrived at field with pal John at 9am and moved over 500+ from stubble and surrounding trees. Set up in a good sheltered strip of hardwoods with strong SE wind at our back. Had 8 dead birds on cradles and 2 flappers (John had forgot rotary - but remembered the battery!) Birds returned immediately in big groups, but just refused to decoy all day. Tried all the tricks in the book but nothing worked. Another shooter set up 2 fields away and he experienced the same. We resorted to flighting them and picked up 38 for goodness knows how many shots. Outstanding sport that tested our shooting to the limit. The only bird to decoy was missed handsomely by yours truly! The behaviour of the birds reminded me of trying to decoy on rape, with the flock moving as one. Grand day to be out in near gale force winds. kippylawkid
