evo
agree with Deckers as usual, common sense springs to mind, why spend a fortune on a scope for an air rifle it is basically just wasting money, if you want to see 200 yrds+ and then cry behind your rifle because your pellet wont reach what your looking at then spend silly money, if you want a scope that will see what you can shoot at 40yrds and be crystal clear then get a panorama EV 3 x 9 x 50 AO IR, brilliant scope for around £120 and if you want to put it on a rimfire it is more than capable, I,, like Dekers and many others on here cannot see sense in spending a fortune on a scope to shoot under 50yrds as said its common sense really atb Evo
Benji02
Scopes are confusing subjects 50% of people say you get what you pay for spend as much as you can afford, and the other half say don't spend a lot, the scope I am going to buy needs to last me as I don't want to have to buy another scope for a good few years and want to use it on an FAC if I get one in a couple of years I don't like 3-9 personally I just don't like it, I like the idea of the side focus so I'm not messing around at the front of the scope if I have to adjust it, I personally prefer reticals such as the AirMax 30 to just standard mil dots, I asked two local gun shops in my area about scopes and recommendation and both said the AirMax are good scopes and to spend as much as I can afford but I'm still a newby have only been shooting for a year or 2 and now iv finally got a decent gun I just want a decent scope and have got £250 ish spare to spend Many thanks to all the replies Alex
onatangent
Hawke lifetime warranty sells it for me when I have to buy a scope. Panorama suites me and is comfy shooting to 40yrds and could have spent half as much on a sport hd and still have been happy, but I wanted map reticle
shooting long
I agree with you both if you are only shooting upto 40m and I have a Hark sidewinder on my logun gladiator and thinking of replacing with a .25 fac FX bobcat and I have a schmidte and bender PM II on a FX royal 500 but I use both gun at very different ranges and a massive price difference between the two. So as I said before... Scope choice is a personal thing and you need to try them on your or a similar rifle before you buy. I had the good fortune of trying the schmidte and bender when I was in the forces on a l96 a1 and even though I love the FFP and the scope it'self I didn't like the price! The Hark is a fantastic scope and we'll worth your hard earned cash www.deben.com for the Hark or for a look at schmidte and bender and a very wide range of scopes wwwyorkguns.com

lockstockandbarrel
I must be getting old-£250 for a scope to sit on a gun with less than 60 yards normal range? I normally buy used scopes-you don't need top end German optics and mounts built to withstand a Tallboy on a PCP Airgun. But if you have money to burn Don't go applying logic and spoiling everything Kindest regards
cheesypeas
Wise words form Chuck Hawks Over spend, but don't over buy. This contradictory sounding advice is actually pretty good. Buy the very best quality optical sight you can afford, even if you have to scrimp to do it. However, don't buy more magnification, light grasp (objective size), weight and bulk than you actually need. Spend big bucks, but take a minimalist approach. The same applies to mounts. Avoid gimmicks and complexity; spend your money on solid, low height, quality mounts. Whatever magnification or type of optical sight best fits your needs, if you buy top quality sights and mounts you will not be disappointed. secretagentmole
I have Hawke Night Eye scopes on my PCP rifles, all 50mm objectives (I do a lot of roost shooting in the evenings this time of year). I have never had a problem with POI (point of impact) changing when I alter the magnification. Using a chrono and using Chairgun I am also able to hunt at longer ranges than I would normally do. I have had accurate shots at 70 metres under ideal conditions!

Mentalmac
Spend less on a scope, and use the spare cash towards a night site add on :-) When I first started I put my Mamba 4X16X50 on my airgun and thought I was the bee's knee's... then It got annoying and I ended up putting my 3X9 back on it and have a nice Hawke scope on my HMR and the Mamba was redundant... only when I got a FAC airgun I put the Mamba on it as It was simply spare in my cupboard... Learning to shoot well on a lesser mag is the way forward and also easier to find your quarry quicker, especially handy on rabbits if you shoot one and their mate runs for a hedge you can easily and quickly find him and shoot if he decides to have the famous 'one last look back' moment. You can't do this at 30 yards on 16X zoom easily at all.

RedRobin
Big fan of MTC Scopes. I currently have a MTC Mamba on my HW100KS. Not as bulky as you think. Gary and Sammie at MTC offer great customer service and advice . This I found my persuading factor. Ive since bought a MTC Range Finder.. SpotOn Lower budgets Ive found Hawke scopes excellent value for money, Ive never tried their more expensive range so cant comment on those.
