steel in a Remy 1100

Typical UK advice is not to shoot HP steel through any choke in a non-steel proofed barrel tighter than 1/2 (Modified).

I have shot HP steel through most of my non-steel proved shotguns, which date back to the 1980's, but not through anything tighter than 1/2. I have also shot HP steel through a non-steel proofed gun with a 3/4 (Improved Modified) choke. It was an old Browning 2000 auto, and a bit punchy, but threw devastating patterns.

My remy has a skeet barrel so maybe it will be ok ?

As safe as houses. Bear in mind though that even a steel proofed barrel will not withstand damage if the steel shot leaves the wad before the wad leaves the muzzle. Having a steel proofed gun is no guarantee the barrels wont be damaged by steel shot.
