andypaint
What pick up is it. Some are electric pumps now with corroded connections or worn bushes. Hydrolic pumps usually more reliable but could be air in system for corroded pipes or seal on pump or worn rack if it's not an idler system. andypaint
From memory pump and rack. Firstly get underneath and check for corroded pipes. The start engine and turn steering lock to lock and feel for any notchiness if so then rack. If feels smooth must be pump. Also check belt on pump is tight and not slipping. andypaint
No just somewhere smooth will do. But you may need to get it lifed up to check for corroded power steering pipes. She may have even driven over something that his kicked up and damaged pipes as they are soft.
