theosmith
I have a 2002 frontera and the wiring or something has gone wrong I have renewed the relay and fuses all good but no power going to the plugs. What I would like to know is how can I run a push button switch to all 4 plugs safely. Thanks
fortune
It would be possible but if there is no power getting to the rail you have to track the wiring back to it's source. A lot of vehicles operate the heaters as the engine comes under load such as going up hill. This is controled by other things such as smoke output, engine speed, throttle opening Ect, Ect. it is quite complicated and not just like years ago when the heaters were just used to heat intake air on starting the engine. Its called progress. it would be possible to start the engine but you might end up with an engine management system shut down because this part of the system isn't working as the rest of the system thinks it should. la bala
You will still need to go through that relay
SEshooter
Done it once on a 1981 hi ace when traveling round oz. run the power supply through a relay with a push button on the dash. Used a inline fuse. Not sure if it's a good idea on a more modern car though. Worked a treat on the bongo bus.
