Davyo
Just got of the phone to Durham as I needed to know when I should send my licence in before new one is issued.I was told in writing on my renewal invite to keep my original and send in a photo copy due to renewals are expected to take longer than usual. However the original would have to be sent back before the new one is issued.I have been told today that with effect from Monday 02/03/15 you no longer have to surrender you old licence first. The officer stated that once my new licence is received I sould then send the expired one in Asap. kdubya
Cleveland never asked for the old one back on application, they used to just say when you get your new one destroy the the old one. KW
Breastman
You've never HAD to send your old certificate in with the renewal documents (you don't with variations to a FAC either), you can in fact keep the old one after the new one is issued providing its 'snipped' like a passport. However many FLD's insist you send them in simply because its less hassle for them. Presumably Durham have finally read the legislation and are willing to comply with that particular part of it
