Suffolkngood
If walked up or rough shooting there's nowt better than a GSP or another of the HPR breeds. I've had 3 GSP's and all been great dogs. The Lazy Labs flush the easy birds....the Looney Spaniels flush the slightly wiser ones and the GSP point at all the others that they've missed beautiful to watch. E.w.
Two thing to take account of, spaniels hunt for scent labs hunt a scent, I'd go for the one with brains.

loriusgarrulus
Our Springer trashes every bramble patch in case there is something in there. our Red Setter has a sniff and points if there is something in there, but no way is he going to go into the brambles. loriusgarrulus
Even better, the Springer has decided it is not going to retrieve pigeons, too many loose feathers for him. Logan the Setter doesn't mind what he carries back as long as it is warm and bloody.
Paul223
Mick Miller, as someone who is owned by two sprockers and an ESS I must say your comments have made me chuckle, all completely true, right down to the pants!
