grahamch
Some advice please, am looking for a quality pair of compact binoculars that I can use without taking my specs off on the marsh etc. Max size x32 but would like something really compact. Thanks
seeker
Most of the B have twist up/ down eyepieces for spec wearers. Until recently I used Leica 8×32 excellent and pocketable. The better quality bins can give more with less size and magnification. My general carry are the Leica 6x20 and they are both small and excellent picture, where they start to lose out is as the light fades. As discussed in another thread around here... try before you buy and try as light fades cos they all look wonderful on bright sunshine. If you give a rough location someone should recommend somewhere you can try before buying. Edited March 9, 2015 by seeker
JohnfromUK
You need to look at the figure called 'eye relief' - and go for a high figure here. I use Leica Ultravid 8 x 20s - superb, but expensive and may not be large enough as light fails (if that is important to you?). These have a 16 mm eye relief. I believe the 8 x 25 Swarovskis may have a higher still eye relief at 17 mm and have a slightly larger objective so may be a little better as light fails. I haven't tried these. Note that the earlier Leica Triniovid has a lower eye relief and didn't have enough for me. 15 mm seems about minimum for me and my glasses.
