I've got it in black synthetic and think the gun is fantastic.

For me the only downside is that it's a little heavy, but that's worth taking on the chin for all the other pluses.

The gun oozes quality in the hand. The trigger pull is nicely weighted. The recoil system is so good, 29g carts is the sweet spot for me. A heavy enough cartridge for any sort of wood pigeon shooting at any range, the recoil is almost non existent. The rubberised grips have a warm feel in the coldest climate, and even if your soaking wet the grip is sure.

I can strip the gun for cleaning including the trigger mechanism out in less than a minute.

Almost forgot, my only gripe if you like is that it only comes with three chokes. For such an expensive gun it should come with five in my opinion.

A lot of money for a semi, but if you handle them all you will see why.

kool, thanks for detailed review mate, yeh really liked i might be getting the one in camo max4... do you think how much would they roughly worth slightly used, one of shops selling brand new for 1700 something...

Not sure how much the camo ones are fetching if I'm honest.

I too looked for a second hand one but I wanted it in excellent condition and couldn't find one at a price I thought was significant enough over the cost new, so I bit the bullit so to speak.

Best place to check is on Guntrader.

Muncher has just sold his black synthetic for around £800 , so that will give you some indication as to what they can be picked up for S/H

Wasn't that advertised as "average condition" here on Gunwatch?

That seems extremely cheap considering they start at around £1300 on Guntrader.

When I was at the shooting show, there was one which looked like it was tied to someone bumper to get it there, and they wouldn't budge off £1200+

Having seen the gun I would say he was going on the side of caution calling it average condition , I personally would have said it was in good

condition and the buyer got a bargain.

Places like guntrader only tell you what people are asking , it does not always mean they are selling or the seller ends up getting what he asks.

Anyone buying a S/H A400 xtreme for £1300 is nuts considering you can buy a new A300 xtrema for less than that.

Bit like saying anyone buying a second S class Mercedes is nuts when they can get a brand new E class :)

Two different guns, but you are entitled to your opinion!

As Fenboy said, one has been sold for £800, I for one looked for months and couldn't find any less than £1400, that said it was around a year ago. The problem is that there are very few second hand ones for sale, and looking at Guntrader that doesn't seem to have changed.

Give Stutleys a call, they seem to have some link with GMK and get them in from time to time.

ive got the A400 extreme in max 4 camo, as Cosd said their an amazing gun... as ive said beforon here the only way i will part with mine is if they release a true left hand version of the extreme.

the downside of the camo for me is its really poor quality finish, mine came in a mess with chincks and chips of the finish missing... poorly dipped finish, i retruend it and got a new one which was nt as bad but still not good,i kept it as i know itll get battered with my using it.

i also do not think that the camo finish will be as long lasting as others, my mate had a browning gold that was abused having trip after trip to the foreshore and never being cleaned and the camo was perfect, the A400 feels quite fragile in comparison and the chips in the finish would seem to proove that but its a small price to pay for such a good gun

i paid £1500 or £1550 for my camo finish (which are more expensive) last april. the other two local (ish) gun shops wanted a couple of hundred quid more at £1800 so i had a bargain

Im left handed and have been looking at the A400 extreme, I take it that you can only move the safety over for a left handed trigger finger and that it still ejects RH, has that caused any bother, I know on my 20g auto it ejects well out of my way and isn't a problem. Also are they not caste for a right hander or is the stock all straight ??

yep it still throws out to the right, but it is known to be one of the fastest cycling auto's so does get the spent carts out of the way without issue.

changing to left hand safety is easy and only takes a few minutes, but and its a big but... make sure you cover the right hole when you loosen the spring retaining screw as mr clumsy here didnt and i heard the ping in my workshop as the spring launched itself god knows where and it cost me a tenner for a new spring

it does come with left hand shims to change the cast over but i shot it so much better than my previous true left handed semi-auto straight out of the box i havent bothered fitting them... its a dream to use left handed

first was almost all the reviews i've read you guys and few other websites didn't find even a single issue/ -ve review related this gun, second the best feature it has better than benneli vinci is kick off. I think the only -ve i've read for a400 is as it is too pricey, it only comes with 3 chokes... it felt slightly heavy as first time i lifted it as compared to my sx3...

Looks like you've googled the same reviews as me, I'll have to wait a couple of months to get one but I reckon unless they all start falling apart then that'll be another one sold. Hows the optifade as some have said its poor as if they were incorrectly dipped,

yup pretty much agree, but its not that bad to be honest, depends on light as well, if you in low light it looks bit ****, sun/better light it looks nice. but again when someone buys camo/synthetic than they shouldn't be much worried about finishing, as if one is after a nice stock etc go for wood :)

i did have some concern over the camo finish not because i wanted a perfect gun (i already said i kept the second one i had that still had bad finish) as i know that general wear and tear will effect the finish anyway, my concern was i thought if im spending this much on a gun then it should at the very least be perfect when it comes out of the box

three chokes as mentioned is a bit tight on barettas part, i just bought another one which if i had bought one of a great many other brands that come with four or five i wouldnt have had to
