Interesting, don't forget this part of the UK. The choices are limited Labour don't organise here so you have the local parties conservative or UKIP. Unionist parties with 10 members of parliament could have a big influence in the next UK parliament. You will be glad to know that the unionist parties are pro gun Ownership including handguns. It was the unionist parties that insisted before signing up to the good Friday agreement that labour did not extend the handgun ban to Northern Ireland.

A Safer Northern Ireland

The transfer of justice powers from Westminster allows local elected representatives to shape our justice system to suit the Province’s specific requirements.

Amend self-defence legislation so householders are given greater protection and can only be prosecuted for use of force against intruders which is found to be disproportionate.

Ulster Unionist Party support for shooting sports is ‘unequivocal’
Posted on Mar 9, 2015

TM-and-MN-300x168.jpgThe leader of the Ulster Unionist Party has written to BASC, to say his party unequivocally supports lawful shooting sports.

BASC NI director Tommy Mayne, wrote to the leaders of Northern Ireland’s five main political parties to ask them if they supported lawful shooting sports.

Mike Nesbitt, leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, was the first to reply.

In his reply he thanked Tommy Mayne for his letter in which he asked whether the Ulster Unionist Party supports lawful shooting sports.

Mr Nesbitt’s letter reads: “The answer is an unequivocal yes. Country sports make a major contribution to the Northern Ireland economy each and every year. It provides much needed employment and sources of revenue generation in many of our rural areas.

“Of course the economic contribution is not the only benefit – I believe shooting has a hugely positive impact on our environment as many thousands of hectares are carefully managed for conservation by those involved in the sport.

“The Ulster Unionist Party strongly believes in the principle of securing strong animal welfare practices, however whilst many cannot appear to accept this, to us country sports have a key role in supporting our often fragile local ecosystem through managing animal populations.

“I am pleased to be able to give you a firm commitment that the Ulster Unionist Party will continue to respect and support the rights of those who engage in country sports.”

Tommy Mayne said: “I am delighted to have received this backing for lawful shooting sports from the Ulster Unionist Party and look forward to further positive responses from the leaders of Northern Ireland’s other political parties.”

If you think the Liberal Democrats are in favour of liberty or democracy, I have a bridge you can have, for very reasonable price

You're right, I meant more than that is supposed to be what they are for given they are supposed to be 'liberal' about things. Sadly they seem to be the opposite.

My take on it so far...................... and don't start shouting!

A gut feeling with plenty of life experience indicates?

Labour and SNP, our shooting will be gone?

Conservative and our NHS will be gone?

The other tiddlers, all squealing at the top of their voices for the opportunity to launch snouts into the communal trough with their bigger mates?

Lets face it, must be awful to have to survive on an MP's wage and have the opportunity to act like juveniles everyday in the Houses of Parliament?
