njb73
Just used these for the first time today..... Very good hitting cartridges both on skeet and sporting targets..... One major downside is how dirty they are.. Billowing smoke and absolutely manky barrels.... Which was not a problem until i tried cleaning them tonight.... So i fired about 75 of them today alongside 125 white gold plastics.... Finished shooting about 16.00 , got home , had tea and attempted the cleaning about 20.00..... Now... the gun and barrels were immaculate before i went shooting , so i was not expecting much of an effort cleaning as it was a lovely dry , sunny day.. Having shot the white golds regular i knew it was not them.... Bloudy hell... i have not had to put that much effort into cleaning barrels...EVER... It took 40 mins of wire brushing, bore cleaner, Legia cleaner, pushing rags through...getting the nice squeak sound.... and still signs of residue.... end of chambers....and just before the choke threads..... Letting some cleaner soke overnight, and attempt again in the morning.... Think i will stick with the Blue Diamond Fibres....
Cyrus1988
How were the cartridges stored before you used them?
njb73
Keep all my shells in the airing cupboard in a lock box, so they should have been nice and dry.... 3 hours or so travelling in a nice warm car, so no real chance of damp getting into them... Was just wondering whether it was the mix of powders and oil with the tempreture.... I did shoot 100 sporting within 1/2 an hour, then 4 rounds of skeet within an hour.....but would not have thought so.... Will be trying them again on Sunday, just to see..... figgy
Hmmm dirty you say, Eley took over Caledonian Cartridges and are known for very dirty cheap fiber cartridges. Caledonian made fantastic carts before being taken over, such a shame who bought them.
grrclark
I used their 28g fibre loads last year at an event and thought they were punchy and a bit mucky Didn't realise they were part of Eley.
njb73
the 24g were very nice to fire compared to the white golds...and very comparable breaks on the skeet...would explain the the problem if eley have taken over...never been a fan of eley carts
figgy
Blue diamond 24g fiber are nice load to shoot. Victory Challenger 2 24g were one of the best I've used too. For skeet have you tried Hull comp x 21g
