Whats your thoughts on the new Webley semi auto 12g. As i'm a lefty, and they do true l/h semi, i was wandering what are they like to shoot - build quality etc. Quite like the wood stocked version.

Hi Mate, beleive it or not they are made in the same factory as the Escort Semi Auto, Hatsan Arms company in Turkey but they cost more than the Escort.

Althou something I never knew is all Webley & Scott's carry a lifetime warranty. It needs to be serviced every 2 yrs at an approved dealer and thats it. Not to bad for a lifetime warranty! So if your escort like semi broke in the next 10yrs you would get a free repair, something I doubt Hartsan do.

Wacker, I have also heard that the webley's and the Escorts Are made in the same factory. they are probably the same gun. webleys are about £100 more though

I shoot left handed & I have braught a right handed fabarm semi auto 12g. it is fine and i have had no problems shooting it left handed.

there is a new S/A escort for sale in the sale section of this forum. might be worth having a look at that. could save yourself a few quid.

Good luck

The Brand new Escort semi auto in the for sale section is mine, but it is now provisionaly sold :)

And I know I'll regret selling it even though I've not used it

bought an escort semi last year but the stock was too short and I wanted a nice gun that would last me a bit longer (the bottom of the ejection port was starting to 'peel' away from the repeated ejection of cartriges) so I bought the W&S 810 and it is in a differen league, i've yet to have a jam the metalwork is fine and it will cycle pretty much anything apart from the really light 24g sub-sonics.

Another nice thing about it is the wood is of a very high quiality on all of the guns.

not a lefty myself but have heard some good reports from the other guys on the range, not a bad gun at all!

For the COST of a Hatsan they are disposable when the time comes!

Buy one and use it 2 years of the 3 you have the warranty for! Then sell it for say £200 and put the extra £100 toward a new one a lot like you do with Cars

£100 for a new gun every 2 years is VERY feesible if you take into account in another year it MAY break and be OUT of warranty and cost a further £200 to replace!

The Webley & Scott is as said made in the same factory and any dealer who denies this is trying to pull wool over your eyes!

They are Glorified Escorts with a few asthetical subtle changes!

I would rather save a hundred quid or more and go for the cheaper and just as good Escorts.

They have addressed that problem with a NEW trio stock (3 part recoil pad) where you can SHORTEN it or LENGTHEN it by adding or taking away sections of the recoil pad.

Only the OLD 3" stocks were short the 3&1/2" version had a longer stock!

Also a LOT of manafacturers now PAINT the grain onto the wood to enhance the look and can now make a bit of Chipboard look like Peruvian Mahogany let alone a cheap hardwood to look like Walnut! I found this out while restoring a few guns in the past.
