kay8.4
Afternoon Brought a new model about 8 months ago and has been spot on no issues at all...... Recently brought a load of No 6 32g gambore pigeon 70mm and whislt same size (70mm) as everything else I have used I am getting issues Cartridge after cart struggle to eject- almost seems like once shot they are too long to eject correctly?.. Anyone else had this issue or have an answer Thanks in advance JB
steve_b_wales
Maybe a daft question, but are all the gas ports clean? as it could be that not enough gas is getting through to push the piston/eject the cartridge. Also, sometimes when a cartridge is fired, and the crimp opens up, it adds quite a few 'mm' to the overall length. I haven't had trouble with any of my cartridges though. Outdoorsman
I have the same problem with mine but with 27g hull superfasts or for some reason when pointing vertically, i noticed on mine the corner of the extractor is missing and the stub that the brass hits when ejecting is rounded, i never have the problem with any other cartridges other than 27g supers and 28g velocitys, but you could check those two things
kay8.4
Cheers for the reply gents Will check both things and see how we go, it does however seem to be the carts as ran a test last night with 3 types and 2 lots were 12 for 12. The Gamebore however failed on all 4 runs.. Bizarre
soontjen10
Never had a problem with mine, I have only used Eleys though.
dazb1967
I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago and just gave the gun a good clean, there's 2 small holes in the barrel I think it's the gas port as said above I gave these a good clean and everything started working fine again. Underdog
The gas ports play no part in ejection. Only in unlocking the action. Residual pressure then acts on the now empty case as though it were a piston driving the action. Now if those cartridges are lower in pressure and the ports and or unlocking mechanism is gummed up, usually from over oiling, by the time the action is unlocked it is to late to complete the cycle. jonny thomas
If your gun shoots a particular cartridge well its probably best to stick with them most semi's are a little cartridge fussy my old 1100 was much worse than my current escort
