TWAG
Gunsmoke thank you very much for that that this is all history. I believe that BASC's position now is no evidence no change and are defending the use of lead ammunition. "This have got future that anyone thought, they are now talking about a total phasing out of lead for all shooting. Shotgun, rifle and air weapons. The BASC research committee paper told us that." Your statement seems a little bit confused the basc research Committee paper is over six years old. Please can you evidence that this is the position today? Salopian
So is the BASC Research Committee paper of five years ago now irrelevant? If so what else that they have said and done is irrelevant? WE, the BASC members seem to be missing a very important point, which is BASC say they are the 'Voice of Shooting' if that is correct they have suffered from laryngitis for far too long. "No evidence No change" Where is the evidence ? Why change?
David BASC
Speaking as a current member of BASC staff, with 20 years at the Mill, and a senior member of staff I can assure everyone that at no time were BASC staff told to prepare for a lead ban As to 'show me where BASC have ever defended lead shot' we have been over this gunsmoke several times on this forum, but you choose to ignore the work that BASC had done. The research paper is old and was not a policy paper and simply reported, from a member of the committee who came from the medical research industry, who advised on how pharmaceuticals are removed from circulation and how this process could apply to lead shot, and it was the view of just one member of the committee that lead shot could be banned in the short term, this view was not accepted by the BASC council as you well know BASC are now, as we always have, defending the use of lead shot, and our new CEO has made our position more clear. So lets stop this silly and totally unfounded conspiracy theory and move on

And in hindsight, what is your opinion of that decision now?
David BASC
I have no comment to make on DEFRA's decision on who they chose to appoint as a chairman
Cranfield
This topic has had more than a fair airing and is now just going over old ground. BASC have made their position more than clear regarding any proposed lead bans and I think we all have to wait and see how things develop.
