oilyrag
Think I posted this in the wrong section last night as it seems to have vanished so will try in here. To cut a long story short, clearing the loft out I stumbled upon my old FWB 300s last weekend. I bought it as a project a few years ago as it needs some work (reblueing, stock refinishing etc) but it is complete with diopters etc and it is a straight honest gun. I've not shot an air rifle in anger for a good while now but after a bit of plinking with the 300 I fancy another full power air rifle after only shooting loud stuff for the past few years. Is it worth anything as a trade in or would I be better off mothballing it? I've had a look online but prices vary wildly, before I take it to my RFD how much should I be looking to ask for it? Btw, this isn't a thinly veiled 'for sale' post I'm genuinely looking for impartial advice before I have my pants pulled down. Thanks. bruno22rf
IMHO its down to how much it would cost to bring the 300s back to "good+" condition. If you can do it on the cheap then get it done and mothball the old girl-price is only going to go one way. On the other hand it can cost a kings ransom to refurbish some guns in which case sell it for what you can privately-someone willing to undertake the work themselves might be willing to pay a little extra. You will most likely get loads of suggestions about which gun to buy so for what its worth-TRY a TX200 in .177 if you want a spring gun-or a S410/510 if you want something already full of phut. malmick
Ball park figure, I bought a 300SU about a year ago for £100 as a project and not touched it yet. It's got both front and rear sights and it's cased but no other trimmings. It would need re-blueing to sell on but only needs servicing with new seals to be shootable. Hope that helps, Cheers, Mick

malkiserow
I am no expert but £100 seems low for a value unless it is a rusty shed. My FWB 127 sport mk2 is amazing engineering so I imagine the 300 is the same or better Mine is tip top and shoots wonderfully, that is worth over £300 from the sales I've seen. oilyrag
Thanks for the suggestions guys, much appreciated. I was hoping for a bit more so I don't think I'm too far off the mark. It is far from a wreck, with a reblue and a tidy up it would be a really nice gun. I will give it a quick spit polish tomorrow and stick some pics up. I was thinking along the lines of a TX as I have had a couple previously along with a Prosport. I have been down the PCP route of S200/400, a couple of 410s then a HW100 which I foolishly sold after it lay idle for a while. I really do fancy another springer as it's the simplicity that appeals to me.
