SPARKIE
Popped over to Paul's again for a shine last night. Usual thing I take my .17ah and he takes his .223 we need a fox for the vet school he said.... Ok let's shoot them with the .17 less damage. So we're scanning about and wandering round for a good hr or so when we spot a couple sets of eyes by the brook with a large embankment behind them. Cubs Great get into position 160 or so yards away and get ready on the sticks......bang miss ****** again bang miss....*** Anyhow the Cubs run back in the overgrowth and all goes quite ****** is it me the gun dunno so get the gun on bipod ready to have another go if they come back out. Caller on and ten mins later ones back about 150yrd bang smacksaw it flip left but that was it Paul's mate Steve had night vision spotter on it and it's dead right in front of us in some long grass We stay there another ten mins and nothing else comes out so we went to go have a look round while we rest the area. 35 mins later or so we came back and looked across the valley to find one 300yrds to the right of the first one...now we had left the first one not to disturb them. Started getting closer to make sure it was Mr fox and not Brock got to about 100odd yards bang down it went....wahoooo picked the cub and went to look for the first one shot. Could we find it could we eck it was nowhere to be seen so Paul went over this morn with the dogs to have a look. Turn out it was about 5 -10 yards to the left in some thick undergrowth Both shots were perfectly placed shots...I don't understand why it missed on first couple of shots I suspect it likes clean barrel...I hadn't cleaned it from the last 2 outings. So here's the pics of the 2 Turns out the first fox was the vixon.
reggiegun
Gingers got a right sulk on now mate. Difficult shooting on that rough bank, as there is a lot of brush that your TINY bullet could of hit first. Them first shots were at least 200 yards mate. Hope the cow **** you lay in has washed out. WelshMike
Well done, apart from missing of course. Nothing like lying in a nice big pile of poo....I wish farm animals were more considerate. I shot a few foxes (with a proper cailbre of course just to keep underdog happy) Saturday night and had a nice soft rest for my elbow during one shot in a nice large cow pat.
