Screws

Fairy easy question, it's the answer that seems to be harder

I need 2 screws to attach a butt plate to my shotgun.

Problem seems to be the shape, I have looked at Screwfix and quite few others on the web, also tried Chambers but they don't seem to do them either.

Anyone got any bright ideas? they need to look like this if possible, but the important thing is they need to be 2" or more long (the butt plate is 30mm thick)

Stuart,

2" long but what size ?4,6,8?

Most probably have some in the w/shop will have a nose tomorrow for you

Thanks SL, I just measured it and they are 5mm outside diameter, not sure what that relates to in number size. That one is out of my Beretta, the 2 I need could be smaller diameter and still be fine but the length is key.

Maybe a daft answer, but they could be just plain hinge screws, they look like simple self tappers. Have you tried B+Q or somewhere similar..

No such thing as a daft answer TG (and it is safe bet to assume I have overlooked something ) but I have tried Wickes, Homebase and what I considered to be one of the best tools hops near me and drawn a blank at all of them.

2 inch x no8 countersunk domeheads by the look of them.

Not too far Stuart, maybe try Thames Fixings and fastners of Didcot. They have the lot!!!

Rob.

Thanks Rob, if I can't find them soon, I will get onto them

Looks to me as if they are 1 1/4" x 10 raised head with a Phillips recess.

I was trying to make this a PIN answer but couldn't.

A local fixings company will be able to help, no point with B & Q unless you wany a lawnmower

Thanks for the offer Axe, let's see what screwmeister SL can find in the workshop and then take it from there.

If I hadn't made such a fantastic job of fitting the custom buttplate  it wouldn't be an issue anything would do, but having done that I would quite like to finish it off properly.
