that spanners been broke a long time there a shiny new crack and a black rusty crack when you got splatted by the rear axle it brought back a sad day when i was a 15 year old apprentice my mate was working on a suspension leg of a escort car using a so called new spring compressor well all i heard was bang run in and the top bearing of the suspension leg was embedded in the side of my mates head suffice to say he was dead so you where very very lucky

never noticed that, it snapped on an awkward bolt when dropping diesel tank, its a very old one of my dads that i only used as i needed 2 17mm spanners as the socket wouldnt fit over nut or bolt head, that sound shocking about your mate, i do consider myself lucky, it still un nerves me when im under the land rover now,

my mate came back today after work with a plan to get the doors on, firstly i emailed the place where i got the fixing kit from, id sent him some pictures and told him what was wrong, he emailed me back saying that i have the wrong hinges. and that i had series 3 hinges, if i send them back the 2a bolts back he will send me some series 3 bolts for £18, you ****** what :hmm::hmm:

so i called him straight away, he for some reason thought i had a series 2a, i said if thats the case how come the rest of the kit is for a series 3, i think he was a bit gutted he had made a mistake, but as i said, packing 100s of nuts and bolts daily there is bound to be the odd mistake, anyway, he is sending me some proper ones :good::good:

so we tried to fit the door with the bolts and then change them over one by one when the new ones come, put the door on and it was a mile out, forgot to trake a picture though, then we did a bit of fiddling around, and its tricky to know what hinges go where so we also messed about with them, and as a result got a but closer,

the hinges are meant to move ..so you can align the door properly....have you got the plastic packing strip in ?

dont forget to fix your wing mirror stems on....or you will have to take the hinge off again to do it.............

yup getting there.........are the rubber door strips in ?.....

and are the bulkhead bolts all home and tight.....

only the one seal so far, bulk head was all tightened up today :good::good:

Its all about striker plate line ups

lined up fine from the last picture, felt good having to lift the handle up to open the door :lol:

that is genuine land rover approved door gaps if you cannot get your finger in its wrong you should have seen the first 2 door range rovers when they come out you could have squeezed through the door gaps

:lol: looks a bit like what it did when i bought it :good::good:
