so today after realising i was going to get any help as my mate was busy, and iv been putting it off as i didnt think id be able to do it my self, but it will probably off up for painting mid week so i had to just give it ago and see how it went, so into my other garage i went as there was no room to move in the other one, not that there was much room in this one,

first job was to unwrap the new rear tub floor, supports and top hat sections,,

which panels? which bedding strip mastic?

you can buy it on greaseproof sort of paper...the mastic stuff is already extruded and all you have to do is lift/peel them off and press them into position...they are about a foot long.............when you rivet do it slowly as it will squeeze together.........it will stop water ingress and most important RATTLES AND SQUEAKS...............

mastic out of a tube dosnt do the same thing...this is more like a "mastic/putty"

also it acts as a protection against electrolsis.............very important where you have a steel strut touching an aluminium panel thats why door skins rot

when i did my door skins onto a steel frame i laid a tar cloth sticky gaffer tape where they would come together...so the metals wouldnt touch...

I'll give it ago but someone is going to have to explain to me what to do. Am I cutting a small square out or the whole bottom 2-3"

If you going to cut a bad bit out lee, first cut a patch out of the new material you are going to use, lay the patch on the area you want out and scribe around it. Put a 2mm cutting wheel in your grinder and cut bad bit out. Put your new patch in, then you will have a flat repair. Steady as you go on thin stuff, you dont want to warp it.

SPOT ON BALA..................with that gauge of plate use a small diameter wire................start on spotting two plates together...spot 4 spots to fix it in position...use your clamps if you want...then spot every inch......check and if needs ...flattern.....then spot to fill in........then dress off.........

on you pic the area which is filled needs cutting out and the bottom flange..............practice first.........good gas...new contact tip...clean feed rollers......then away you go...fiddle with your wire speed and amps............when it is right it should sound like frying proper bacon
