what is happening is...its injecting too late and the bore pressure is dropping so you only get partial expansion/combustion )lots of smoke cough cough....if you retard the pump..it will inject the mist earlier when the piston has nearly finshed rising to the top of the bore...which will be at its maximum pressure...............if you retard it too far the enjine will make a nasty knocking sound...so then advance the pump

fisrt thing to do is to mark the pump to the block as you will then see your starting point........there should be an ARROW on the pump which shows the direction its turning....

oh ...and the other thing......PUT THE RETURN SPRING ON THE STOP LEVER BEFORE YOU TRY AND START IT...:lol::lol: (i have been "down" that road)... :whistling:

Did you buy one of those old stock new grills for stupid money? I bought one, not told the missus what it cost though!

The thingy in the picture at the top is a screen was pump, it mounts to the inside of the passenger wing. Yours will be all done before I have finished taking mine to bits. I had to do a bit of a stock take because I am losing track of what I have bought. It's the random screws that are confusing me, I found a packet with 4 massive philips screws and 2 washers but I have not a clue what they are for. I tried looking intently at then for several minutes but I am still non the wiser. lol

Ahh I just looked again at the pic above and I think they may be for the curved panel between the wings.

it does look ok, but then again so did mine under certain light from the outside, but it so wasnt, what degree or rebuild are you going for, we need plenty of pictures, this could be a rite rebuild thread, if we get a few more on board we could hit 1000 pages :lol::lol:

Sorry Lee, it wasnt a wind up, i looked at my number plate and thought, oh S##t he has put it on the wrong side. I googled images and its either side. Crack on bud :good:
