Caravanman
I've just picked up an old Spanish Eibar side by side 12 bore. It doesn't have the normal choke markings on the barrels instead the right barrel says 18.4, choke 18. The left barrel says 18.4, choke 17.2. I know the 18.4 will refer to the bore measure but what is the actual choke? Any ideas?
wymberley
All things being equal that would be a tight 1/4 or loose 1/2 by a tight Full.
henry931
Yes agreed The are the diameters in mm so in inches: Bore: 0.724" Right: 0.709" Left: 0.677" So choke is: Right: 15 thou = 3/8ths Left: 47 thou = Extra/Super Full Put it on a pattern sheet if you want to see what this actually means in the real world

figgy
Most Spanish guns have stars stamped into them for choke 1= full 2= 1/2 and so on. Roughly every quarter of a mm tighter than bore is a 1/4 of choke.
Caravanman
My other Spanish gun has stars, this one doesn't.
