kiffy
it is i believe one of their own brands but i could be wrong, either way its a lot cheaper than gordens sloe gin... at the moment in tescos gordens is £18 a bottle, thats £25.72 a litre, greenalls is £16.50 a bottle thats £23.58 a litre. lidls is £7.99 (smaller bottle than the others) so £15.98 a litre... i do like my bargain hunting heres a couple of photosof the bottles Edited August 22, 2015 by kiffy
bruno22rf
Bought 3 bottles this very morning-usually make my own but thought that, at £8 a throw, its worth a try. Initially I found it a little "hot" compared to mine but gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried a larger glass-the initial burn was definitely starting to subside but the bottom of the glass appeared before I could be certain-there was only one thing for it-2 more glasses and I found myself wondering why the hell I had ever married her let alone father the little sod that beats me clay shooping and makes his sifters larf at me* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. kiffy
haha... worked a treat then, if home made is better than that ill be well happy... i had some sloes that my mate had in the freezer for ages and put them to soak in some gordens, had a sly taste and it wasnt as nice as this stuff... maybe it was old sloes? anyway im planning to be out picking my own sloes this year and bought 4 litres of gin months ago when it was on offer do you just soak your sloes in the gin? i put a vanilla pod in with mine for some added flavour and they have been in it since march

bruno22rf
I believe there is a recipe on this site where you bake the Sloes and use the concentrate to make the drink-we tried it a couple of years back and had 2 bottles nicked during a party after we had offered a taster to guests. Never tried vanilla but a tiny dash of Almond essence is superb. In all honesty though-the Lidl offering is by far the best I have tried when you consider the price-we intend to buy at least 10 more bottles. kiffy
another 10... youve a problem, i thought i was bad enough buying 5 i cant compare to others as ive only tried lidls but it is a nice drink ad the price is right... my local sold out straight away last year and there where only a few left when i went back this year so if yours is anything like mine id get a move on before their gone i know your bottles got knicked but was it any good? Tallshort
Its OK but not a patch on Gordons or homemade stuff
bruno22rf
OK Tallshort???-its cheaper than cheap gin and IMHO you will need to spend a fair bit of time and money to make anything better.Kiffy-yes my home made stuff was very good-we messed up a small amount by putting in a drop of Almond essence that would not mix and simply sat on top of the Gin-and , btw-only managed to get 9 bottles so we now have 11 in total-sorted.
