kennett
Need some help, don't understand electric it's witchcraft!! Wired a feed spreader up to the shoot mule, spreader had a 7 pin plug, so wired one of these to back of mule and ran wiring along the chassis into the cab into a switch. Then wired from the switch into 2 connectors bolted to battery terminals. Had a few trial runs firing stuff across the workshop and all worked fine. Came in this morning and fired it up to show someone, cue a huge cloud of weird heavy white smoke from positive terminal, followed by all my wiring back to the switch glowing like a light bulb, before disappearing into thin air! What have I done wrong?
hesstondriver
motor jammed?
silver pigeon69
if you fix it, please put an inline fuse in it. then if it happens again, only the fuse will need replaceing.
Paul223
Yep you need to fit a fuse as close as possible to the positive battery terminal Most likely the wiring had caught and the positive line has shorted through to the mules chassis (which is battery negative) Oh and if you have a plug make sure it's the type that can only connect one way, most of the motors have resistors that will pop if powered the wrong way! kennett
Thanks all, will make sure to put a fuse in later when I have a go at round 2, if I dare touch it!
