Rupert
in principle yes, but profile is a percentage of width so you cant change one without the other, you must end up with a very close rolling radius to original have a play with this http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp with your proposed new tyre being narrower are you wanting the stretch look? hoggysreels
To far off ..you are pushing it going down to 235 more so 215.. one side, either side, okay.

Do you mean just changing one tyre? If so i would be changing all four. Thanks Matty
hoggysreels
Rim size ... keep as near as possible to intended width .. the sealing is done on the second ledge of the inner rim. Best way l can explain mate .. atb
al4x
What matters is the width of the rim when you are looking at changing the first number drastically. I would think you could drop to 245 but much further you will need to check the size of your rims and that they are compatible

THIS ^^^^ It's more or less accepted that one size either side of 265 is ok, and I don't think an insurance issue, so 255 or 275. If you came down to 215 any insurance may be invalidated. All four tyres should be the same size if so fitted as standard.
